The European Association for Chinese Linguistics has as its mission to promote Chinese linguistic research in Europe and to ensure effective communication between European researchers.
After preparatory meetings of several European scholars in 1997, it was officially founded on January 24, 1998, in Paris. The association is registered as a non-profit organization under French law, with its headquarters formally located at the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales, Centre de Recherches Linguistiques sur l'Asie Orientale, 54 Boulevard Raspail, 75270 Paris cedex 06, France.
The association organizes a biannual conference, annual spring schools for graduate students and, and after each conference, publishes a volume containing a refereed selection of papers presented at the conference.
Members are regularly updated on upcoming conferences, recent publications and other news in the field of Chinese linguistics. Members get a discount when purchasing volumes form the Chinese Linguistics in Europe series.
