Call for Papers: 8th International Symposium on Chinese Language & Discourse

June 15-16, 2025, Autonomous University of Madrid (Spain)

The ISCLD is a biennial international symposium that advances the exchange of scholarship and emphasizes an empirical orientation in functional discourse studies of the Chinese language. The theme of the 8th ISCLD will be “Topic-Comment in Chinese Language and Discourse Research: Insights and Applications”, but proposals on other areas, including minority languages related to Chinese, AI application, bi/multi-lingual and multicultural settings, etc., are also encouraged.

Submissions (in English):

  • Abstracts: 300-500 words, including positions, affiliations, email addresses and mailing addresses for all authors.
  • Panels: 300-500 word rationale + a 200–250-word abstract of each panellist’s paper; including affiliation and email addresses for each panel list.

Deadline: January 2nd, 2026
